Caped Crusader 1930s Evening Dress

200.00

The most gorgeous early 1930s devoré silk velvet dress is here! A true testament to its time, this dress just about documents the transition from drop waist 20s dresses to the figure hugging bias shape of the 30s.

Features of this beauty include puff sleeves in silk chiffon, with a matching skirt border, and a DOUBLE LAYER CAPE! The crochet necking adds detail and intricacy to the front, while the rear of the dress is embellished with diamanté clasps to attached the cape to the rear of the shoulders.

This is a truly rare beauty, and would look incredible with a bob or shoulder length curls, dark lips, and a brooding vampy attitude!

Size:

AU 10 / US 6 / UK 10-12 / EU 36

Measurements:

Bust: 36" max

Waist: 28" max

Hips: 40" max

Please note that due to the period this dress could either be worn tight and clingy (which looks amazing due to the bias cut give of the fabric), or could also fall from the bust, skimming waist and hips in a more 20s style.

Condition: In exceptional condition for its age, with minor unravelling to the shoulder ruching as pictured. There are a few tiny pinholes in the bottom silk chiffon border, and a larger tear in the same panel which has been repaired (contemporaneous to the dress)
